Dan Fisher, PhD

Managing Partner

Dan Fisher is a consulting psychologist and Managing Partner at Contemporary Leadership Advisors (CLA), where he advises C-suite executives, boards, and investors navigating complex leadership and organizational challenges. Known for his insight, candor, and strategic thinking, Dan has deep expertise in executive assessment, leadership development, and top-team effectiveness. He helps organizations select and develop senior leaders, align teams around strategic goals, and accelerate performance in dynamic business environments.

Before co-founding CLA, Dan was a founding member of the Leadership & Organizational Effectiveness practice at AlixPartners, where he served on the Senior Leadership Team and built the firm’s team development offering. Earlier, he was co-founder and Managing Partner at Fisher Rock Consulting.

Dan earned his Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology from the University of California, Santa Barbara, and completed postdoctoral training and faculty work at Weill Cornell Medical College. He is a sought-after speaker and an active member of professional psychology and business communities.

I’m especially drawn to conversations about team optimization, leadership development, and coaching—anything that helps people grow and work better together.

When you're not helping clients navigate complex leadership challenges, where might we find you?

I love getting lost in a good mystery, staying active on the tennis court, and spending time outdoors hiking with my wife.

What is your favorite assessment and why?

I’m a big fan of the DISC assessment. As someone with a strong “iD” style, it’s helped me recognize the value of slowing down, listening more deeply, and treating feedback as a gift, all skills that have made me a better leader and coach.
